We only collect what we need to get your meal to you. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- Your first name and mobile number, so the restaurant can identify you and contact you about your order.
- Your email address, entered on the payment page, so a receipt can be sent to you.
- Your order details: meal, restaurant, price, pickup time and pickup code.
- If you rate a meal: your star rating and any comment. Comments are only seen by the Budget My Meal team. Star ratings are shown publicly as an average for each restaurant, without your name.
- If you create an account: your email address and the name and mobile you save, so we can show your order history and fill in checkout for you. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from them (never your password).
- Basic anonymous statistics: visits, which deals are viewed or ordered, and the suburb name you chose. We use a random id for your device, never your name, number or exact location.
- If you ask to be told when deals arrive near you: your email and suburb. We only use them for that, and you can ask us to remove them at any time.
- If you turn on notifications: a notification token for your device (from your browser, or from Google Firebase in our phone app), so we can tell you when your order is ready or a favourite restaurant adds a deal. Turn notifications off at any time and it stops.
Your location
If you allow it, we use your phone's location (or the suburb you type) only to show the closest deals first. Your exact location stays on your device: we don't store it on our servers or share it. Only the suburb name is counted in our anonymous statistics. To look up the name of your suburb, the location is sent once to OpenStreetMap's map service. You can turn location off at any time in your phone or browser settings.
Card details
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us.
Who we share it with
- The restaurant you order from receives your first name, mobile number, order and pickup code.
- Service providers that run our website, database, payments and notifications (such as Stripe and Google Firebase), who may store data outside Australia.
- We don't sell your information or use it for third-party advertising.
Access and correction
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing support@budgetmymeal.com.au. If you're unhappy with how we've handled a privacy matter, contact us first. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
